Denmark scores better than the average scores of countries in its region and income group, and higher than the global average, yet there is ample room for improvement relative to top performing countries.

Denmark scores well in tax share but scores poorly in affordability change, and in the mid-range in cigarette price and tax structure. It would greatly benefit from reducing the cigarette affordability, higher cigarette prices, and improving the tax structure.
Scores Over Time
Denmark's overall score fluctuated between 2014 and 2022 with a slight reduction in 2022. The reduction was contributed by the decrease in the cigarette price score. There was also a failure to reduce affordability over time.
