Accelerating Effective Tobacco Taxes in Argentina: Fiscal and Productive Aspects
This policy brief was written by the South American Network on Applied Economics/Red Sur for the project “Tobacco taxes in Latin America” examining the subsidy structure for tobacco production in Argentina. The brief presents the main findings and policy recommendations developed from a background study by Centro de IDeAS at the Universidad Nacional de San Martín (UNSAM). The brief recommends re-evaluation of the FET, the current subsidy for tobacco producers in Argentina, along with prioritizing crop diversification among tobacco farmers.
