Chad scores poorly in cigarette price, affordability change and tax share, and in the mid-range in tax structure. It would greatly benefit from higher cigarette prices, reducing the cigarette affordability, increasing the tax share of price, and improving the tax structure.
Scores Over Time
Chad's overall score increased from 2014 to 2020. Then the score declined in 2022, largely due to a sharp drop in the affordability change score and a decrease in the cigarette price score.
