Romania scores poorly in affordability change, and in the mid-range in cigarette price, tax share and tax structure. It would greatly benefit from reducing the cigarette affordability, higher cigarette prices, increasing the tax share of price, and improving the tax structure.
Scores Over Time
Romania's overall score decreased from 2014 to 2022. In that time, there was a failure to reduce affordability of cigarette and the tax share scores of price decreased, while the tax structure score fluctuated.
