Kazakhstan scores well in tax structure, mid-range in affordability, and poorly in price and tax share. Kazakhstan would greatly benefit from increasing cigarette prices and the tax share of price.
Scores Over Time
Kazakhstan's overall score increased between 2014 and 2018 before falling in 2022 due to a significant reduction in the affordability change score. It rose again in 2024 due to increase in the change in affordability score and improvement in tax structure.
