Bahamas scores better than the average scores of countries in its region and income group, and higher than the global average, yet there is ample room for improvement relative to top performing countries.

Bahamas scores well in cigarette price but scores poorly in affordability change and tax share, and in the mid-range in tax structure. It would greatly benefit from reducing the cigarette affordability, increasing the tax share of price, and improving the tax structure.
Scores Over Time
Bahama's overall score decreased between 2014 and 2020. It remained at the same level as 2020 in 2022. There is further reduction in the cigarette affordability change score although there is an increase in the tax share score in 2022.
