Brazil scores well in tax structure, mid-range in tax share, and poorly in price and affordability change. Brazil would greatly benefit from increasing cigarette prices and reducing cigarette affordability.

Scores Over Time

Brazil's overall score has been decreasing since 2016, reaching to its lowest score in 2022 due to a reduction in the cigarette price and affordability scores. The overall score increase slightly in 2024. The country has not been able to reduce cigarette affordability since 2018.
