Sam Sturm, Ph.D.

Economist

Sam Sturm is an Economist on the Economics for Health team and an Assistant Scientist in the Department of Health, Behavior and Society at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. His work combines public and health economics to study how fiscal and regulatory policies, especially those targeting tobacco and nicotine products, affect household behavior and public health outcomes.

Before joining Economics for Health, Sam completed his Ph.D. in Economics at Georgia State University, where he led projects on cigarette taxation and consumer expenditure patterns. Sam also holds a M.A. in Economics from the University of Texas at Austin, and a B.A. in Mathematics and Economics from Bluffton University.
